Of course, it is! I’ve been there before, and I know how painful learning from your own mistakes can be.

In our free, capitalist society, network marketing is the best career with no startup risk. However, it is not a “get-rich-quick” industry!

Over the years, I’ve learned that you must be competent, committed, and take your career seriously if you want to thrive in this industry, just as you would in every other sector.

The distinction is that in network marketing, you’ll benefit more than several other industries, just like I did. Sounds interesting, right?

Compared to other startup prospects, there is little risk associated. Your finest marketing tool is word-of-mouth, and you don’t need any startup funds.

Network marketing is a type of business that relies on independent salespeople selling to other people one-on-one while often working from home.

You may need to create a network of company partners or salespeople for a network marketing business to help generate leads and close deals.

Check through them, learn from them and try to avoid them as much as possible. Your success as a network marketer is guaranteed if you can work on all the points listed below. Raring to go? Let’s roll!

MLM Mistakes to Avoid

Mistakes Network Marketers Make In Their First 90 Days

#1 Expecting To Recruit Every Contact

When I started as a network marketer, I wanted to hit the ground running. I was optimistic and believed I’d get every contact on board. Unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned, and my level of enthusiasm reduced drastically.

One of the biggest mistakes you can make during your first 90 days as a network marketer is to expect to recruit all contacts. It doesn’t work that way. Not everyone will buy into your business initially; only a few people will.

The best thing to do at this point is to keep putting in the work and effort; hopefully, you’ll start recruiting more contacts with time, just like I did.

Network Marketing Mistakes

#2 Pre-judging intimidating contacts

One life principle network marketing has taught me is never to be too early to judge. Although not all your contacts will buy into your business, some will do.

Never judge people who ask many questions early. They might only be curious about what you do and how the process works.

Don’t discard any of your contacts because they seem intimidating at the moment. Even if they do not buy into your present idea, they can buy into subsequent ones. Try to maintain a good relationship with all your contacts regardless of the outcome of your negotiations.

#3 Only Contacting “Warm Market” Prospects

Most network marketers make this mistake without knowing they are doing it. When I started, I approached individuals in my own or lower socioeconomic level to market my businesses.

I felt more at ease pitching to them because I thought they would comprehend them better.

This serious mistake could destroy your ability to succeed in business. Always make an effort to contact high-ranking prospects. Concentrate on self-driven, business-minded individuals to advertise your business. This will guarantee that your company grows as well.

Network Marketing Business Plan

#4 Not Having A Network Marketing Business plan

Do you believe Starbucks’ success in its sector is due to the quality of its coffee? Obviously not. They use a simple, technical business plan that is effective and easy to duplicate everywhere in the world.

It is far better for you to use the tried-and-tested strategy in your network marketing business than start afresh.

Get a sound network marketing business plan if you don’t have one, and implement it appropriately.

Doing this will help you scale through your first 90 days as a Network marketer because you will always have the chance to go back to the plan if things aren’t working out.

MLM Mentor

#5 You Don’t Have A Network Marketing Coach

Let me ask you a quick question here. Would you ask someone who has never had children for advice on how to raise your children? That’s highly unlikely! The network marketing sector is no different.

I’m glad I got to know the essence of having a coach very early in my journey as a network marketer. To thrive in network marketing, you must get a coach.

You may be wondering, Who is a coach? A coach is somebody that motivates and inspires you in the same industry and who you look up to.

Having a coach to lead you through the process will increase your chances of scaling through your first 90 days as a network marketer.

Marketing your home business

#6 You Brand Your Company, Not yourself

The product and the people are often the two factors network marketers base their decisions on. These matter more than the business. And of the two, the people are even more important than the products.

Network marketing is ultimately a people industry, and people want to join other people, not a brand logo.
You must be someone who others want to associate with, who gives them courage, and who gives them a sense of security.

Building solid relationships with people requires you to provide them with insightful material, mentor them, and customize everything you do and say to everyone.

#7 Not Using The Internet To Generate Leads

I think the internet is a gold mine for all Network Marketers. Do you know why? The internet is the best and easiest place to generate leads! It grants you unlimited access to a wide range of prospects. It enlarges your scope and allows you to reach a lot of prospects.

Learning never ends! The moment you stop learning, then you’ll stop growing. Part of the mistake most network marketers make in their first 90 days is that they think they know enough about lead generation already. That’s far from the truth!

The world is constantly evolving. As a network marketer, you should learn various lead-generation strategies regularly. This will help keep your business relevant, attract more prospects and also increase your earnings.

Producing quality content is one of the best methods of getting leads online. Great content engages readers and helps them make purchases.

I have free training and pdf guides that I give away and teach you how to generate leads instead of buying them.  Make sure to drop by my blog to check it out.

#8 Being A Manager Instead Of A Leader

Most 9 to 5 employees are familiar with how it feels to have someone looking over their shoulder and making decisions all the time. As a Network Marketer, you are first and foremost a business owner assisting a different Independent business owner.

Therefore, never force individuals to do things they don’t want to do; instead, motivate them. Being a leader entails acting in the manner you would have others act. Stop managing and start leading by setting an excellent example for others.

MLM 3 way call

#9 Not Doing 3-way Calls

This is one of the most common mistakes network marketers make during their first 90 days due to lack of experience.
You may be wondering, what are 3-way Calls? Don’t worry, I’ll explain. 3-way Calls refer to getting one of your experienced uplines to get on a call with you and close a sale with a potential customer.

Third-party calls are most effective for network marketers who are fresh and inexperienced and want the assistance of someone who can educate their potential consumers. Your business, products, and services gain credibility from 3-way calls.

Failing to Follow up with customers

#10 Failing To Follow

One of the easiest and fastest ways to grow in any industry is to follow someone who has achieved what you hope to achieve.

This contributed immensely to my growth as a network marketer.

The reason most network marketers fail during their first 90 days is that they believe they already know it all.

However, this belief is wrong.
As a network marketer, follow those ahead of you in the industry and try to learn from them.

#11 Investing In The Wrong People

Make careful selections when working with your downlines and giving presentations to the public. Spend time and effort working with Network Marketers who are sincere about their achievements.

It would be best if you didn’t waste your time trying to persuade the wrong people who aren’t committed to a long-term business. One factor I want you to be aware of is that many individuals will come and go in your business, but very few will stay with you until they are successful.

You have a slim chance of surviving your first 90 days as a network marketer if you don’t have the right people on board.

#12 Not Marketing Your Business Like A Pro!

Most network marketers take their activities as a side hustle rather than a legitimate business that can generate passive revenue. I also made this mistake! You shouldn’t!

Instead of treating it as a legitimate business, I just started and allowed it to go with the flow. As a result, it became a hobby, and I achieved very little during my first 90 days.

To avoid similar scenarios, you must invest time and work on your business every day if you want it to succeed. You won’t get anything by working on it for only a few hours a week or taking occasional breaks whenever you feel like it.

Always be on time and conduct your business as though it were your job. Market your business like a professional and not like a part-time marketer.

Build a customer base

#13 Not Building A Customer Base

Failing to develop a solid customer base is not the biggest mistake that leads to the failure of many Network Marketers. However, this is necessary to create a solid business reputation for your company.

Someone you pitch a business opportunity to might not be interested in the product at hand, but they may need some of your other products. Therefore, even if they don’t want the opportunity, it’s always a good idea to pitch in a way that paves the way for them to come back some other time.

Read books for development

#14 Reading Books All The Time

Please do not misquote me. It is good to read books. But reading books all the time will only affect your progress as a network marketer negatively.

I’ve been there, and I know how it feels when you’re desperate to make a mark in the network marketing industry.

I want you to know that reading books all the time will not help you grow as a businessperson.

Avoid getting stuck in preparation mode by reading books and not taking action. After reading a few books, go out there and implement what you’ve learned. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes while applying your new strategies.

But avoid making any mistakes listed in this post during your first 90 days as a network marketer.

#15 Worrying about Quitters Quitting

I want you to always remember that good things take time. Rome wasn’t built in a day. You can’t be the best network marketer in town within your first 90 days. You must follow through with the process by putting in consistent work, effort, and time.

Worrying and focusing on quitters will only instill fear of failure in you. Instead, have a growth mindset and keep going. Learn new strategies, and implement your business plan accordingly. It’s like climbing a ladder.

Take it one step at a time, and I assure you that you’ll achieve great things in this field soon. Good luck!
